Best short walks near Tall Trees Camping in Moggs Creek on the Great Ocean Road

We are so lucky at Tall Trees Camping because we have the Great Otway National Park right next door. There are a heap of great short walks to choose from in the national park and nearby in Aireys Inlet. Here are some of my best short walks near Tall Trees Camping in Moggs Creek on the Great Ocean Road:

  • The Ocean View walk

    • 4.5km, 1.5hour return
    • Walk up gently through the national park to the ocean view lookout for spectacular views across the southern ocean to Lorne, Aireys Inlet and Split Point Lighthouse
    • Begins Moggs Creek picnic ground
    • Ends Moggs Creek picnic ground (circular track) OR return to Moggs Creek via the beach

Ocean View Lookout

  • The cliff walk

    • 3.7km
    • Begins Split Point Lighthouse
    • Ends Sunnymead beach
    • Beautiful cliff top walk with amazing views, look outs and beach access
    • Mostly flat and you can walk as far as you feel like and return when you need!
    • Great photography stops along the walk too

Cliff Walk View Aireys Inlet

  • The nature walk

    • 1.8km circuit
    • Lovely easy and mostly flat walk
    • Plenty of things to see for little hikers too
    • Begins Moggs Creek picnic ground

Moggs Creek Picnic Ground entrance

  • Walk from Tall Trees Camping along beach to Fairhaven (and further to Split Point Lighthouse and Aireys Inlet)

    • Begins Tall Trees Camping – ends Split Point Lighthouse
    • 5.3km 1.6hours one way
    • Walk from Tall Trees Camping to Moggs Creek beach and continue walking along beach until you reach Aireys Inlet – your choice where you finish – Fairhaven, Aireys Inlet for a coffee, Split Point Lighthouse for a tour or Willow Tea House for scones and jam and cream!

If you are after a bigger challenge, take a look at the Surf Coast Walk – a fantastic multi day 44km hike. Walk along this beautiful coast line from Torquay to Fairhaven.

Let me know if you’ve done any of these walks or if you have any other favourites!

Happy walking,

Penny
